"One of the things I love the most about St. Matthew's is that everything we do is so deeply rooted in service." Susy Nixon, 2022 School Supply Drive Coordinator
The dedicated Parent Liaisons from St. Matthew's who work directly with 15+ schools in the county are challenged each school year to foster a relationship with school leaders and serve as a resource to children and families in need. They are the primary line of communication between St. Matthew's and our schools for coordinating donation events, and deliveries to the schools every week during the school year.
Despite being located in one of the wealthiest counties in the country, 56.1% of Sterling Elementary, 57% of Forest Grove, 77% of Gilford, and 64% of Rolling Ridge Elementary students all participate in the Free and Reduced lunch program*. This means that more than half of the students at the schools closest to our church are in need.
Our dedicated team hears stories about families who have lost jobs or are underemployed, that struggle finding transportation to get their children to doctor appointments, students who need shoes or clothes and, of course, this time of year, school supplies.
Help level the learning 'field' for students in our area by making sure they have everything they need to have a successful start to the school year. We have specific lists our Liaisons have received from the schools in our area and have committed to meet (and hopefully exceed) those asks.
Will you help us Know and Share God's Love with these students? We hope you will.
